Overview
Phenotypic and genotypic properties of Microbacterium yannicii, a recently described multidrug resistant bacterium isolated from a lung transplanted patient with cystic fibrosis in France.
The study identifies a new erm43 gene encoding a 23S rRNA N-6-methyltransferase responsible for erythromycin resistance in Microbacterium yannicii. Additionally, mutations in gyrA (S83A) and parC (S80A) contribute to fluoroquinolone resistance, while ampC, aph51, and dhps genes are associated with beta-lactam, aminoglycoside, and sulfamethoxazole-trimethoprim resistance, respectively.
