A Novel, Integron-Regulated, Class C beta-lactamase.
The study identifies two novel class C beta-lactamases, bla IDC-1 and bla IDC-2, which are encoded as gene cassettes within class 1 integrons. These enzymes confer resistance to penicillins, second- and third-generation cephalosporins, and monobactams through β-lactam hydrolysis.
