The study identified a novel beta-lactamase gene, blaPSV-1, in Pseudovibrio ascidiaceicola, which confers resistance to ampicillin and penicillin. Additionally, various other resistance genes were found in sponge microbiota, including those conferring resistance to trimethoprim, amikacin, and others.
