beta-lactamase
Overview
Intrinsic Class D beta-lactamases of Clostridium difficile.
The study identifies intrinsic class D beta-lactamases, CDD-1 and CDD-2, in Clostridium difficile, which confer resistance to various β-lactam antibiotics. These enzymes show broad-spectrum activity and are poorly expressed under their own promoters but can confer high-level resistance when expressed under efficient promoters.
