chloramphenicol nitroreductase
Overview
Synthesis and evaluation of hetero- and homodimers of ribosome-targeting antibiotics: antimicrobial activity, in vitro inhibition of translation, and drug resistance.
The study describes the synthesis of homo- and hetero-dimers of ribosome-targeting antibiotics (tobramycin, clindamycin, and chloramphenicol) and evaluates their antimicrobial activity, in vitro translation inhibition, and effectiveness against drug-modifying enzymes. The dimers showed improved antimicrobial activity and reduced susceptibility to resistance mechanisms compared to the parent antibiotics.
