CrxA family subclass B1 metallo-beta-lactamase
Overview
A novel Bacteroides metallo-β-lactamase (MBL) and its gene (crxA) in Bacteroides xylanisolvens revealed by genomic sequencing and functional analysis.
The study identified a novel metallo-β-lactamase gene, crxA, in Bacteroides xylanisolvens, which confers carbapenem resistance. The gene is part of a genomic island and is activated by an IS 1380-like IS element. crxA was found to be specific to B. xylanisolvens with a prevalence of 16.7% among clinical isolates in Hungary.
