Hybrid Molecules of Azithromycin with Chloramphenicol and Metronidazole: Synthesis and Study of Antibacterial Properties.

The study identified that the ermC gene, when inducibly expressed, confers macrolide resistance in E. coli. The hybrid molecules synthesized were able to overcome this resistance by inhibiting the induction of ErmC synthesis.
