Extended exposure of E. coli to ZnO and ZnONPs induced resistance to several antibiotics, including aminoglycosides, cephalosporins, and sulfonamides. Mutations in genes such as rpoS, topA, cpxA, cdsA, deaD, cysJ, qorB, and hns were associated with this resistance.
