Overview
Interference with Lipoprotein Maturation Sensitizes Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus to Human Group IIA-Secreted Phospholipase A2 and Daptomycin.
The study identifies lspA as a novel gene involved in resistance to human group IIA-secreted phospholipase A2 (hGIIA) and daptomycin in methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). Deletion of lspA increases susceptibility to hGIIA and daptomycin, and LspA inhibitors sensitize MRSA to these antimicrobials.
Mutation of lipoprotein processing pathway gene lspA or inhibition of LspA activity by globomycin increases MRSA resistance to β-lactam antibiotics.
