The study shows that the narG gene, which encodes a nitrate reductase, plays a role in Mycobacterium tuberculosis resistance to isoniazid and hydrogen peroxide. Strains lacking narG were hypersusceptible to isoniazid and more resistant to hydrogen peroxide.
