PBP2-TPase
Overview
Cefotaxime-Resistant Neisseria meningitidis Sequence Type 4821 Causing Fulminant Meningitis.
The study identifies the penA795 allele, which encodes a PBP2-TPase variant responsible for cefotaxime resistance in Neisseria meningitidis. This allele was found in commensal Neisseria isolates and was horizontally transferred to a quinolone-resistant N. meningitidis ST4821 strain, causing fulminant meningitis.
