The study demonstrates the successful transformation of Gardnerella vaginalis ATCC 49145 with the Bifidobacterium-E. coli shuttle vector pKO403-lacZ'-Sp, which includes a spectinomycin resistance gene (spR) that increased the MIC of spectinomycin from 2 µg/mL to >512 µg/mL.
